STRONG LINE-UP FOR CHESTERFIELD

Hockaday to pick his strongest eleven…

United head coach David Hockaday says that his side will be stepping up the intensity when the squad travel to Chesterfield (3pm) on Saturday.

The head coach stated after the shock defeat to Mansfield Town on Tuesday evening that he would pick his best eleven for the pre-season friendly.

“I have said up until now that we want to go out and win every game because if you are competitive that is what you want to do,” said the head coach. “There is a fight for the jersey.

“I will give eleven people the chance and it is up to them to keep the jersey. The easy part is getting the jersey, the hard part is keeping it.

“On Saturday I’ve got to pick what I see as my best strongest eleven.”

So far in pre-season the head coach has opted to use two Leeds XI sides but at Chesterfield he will be looking to get 90 minutes from his squad.

“We’ve had four games and everyone has had two 45 minutes and everyone has had 60 and a 30 minute spell,” explained Hockaday. “It isn’t about results in pre-season but we do want to win every game.

“Come Saturday I now need to put out my strongest eleven and have the squad and change it slightly.

“We have got three games left now and I want to get my best players, as I see them, three sets of 90 minutes before we kick off at Millwall. We will turn up the intensity.”
