ROSLER KEEPING TARGETS IN SIGHT

Head coach insists improving on last season remains the aim...

Uwe Rosler believes United are on track to achieve the targets set out at the start of the summer after beginning the new season unbeaten.

Upon his arrival at the club back in May, Rosler underlined his aim of improving the side this term and securing a top-ten finish in the Championship.

Six games into the new campaign and United remain one of only four teams who are undefeated after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford at Elland Road, but Rosler insists the targets will remain the same regardless of form.

“I think it’s very important that we never lose our targets out of our sights,” the head coach said.

“It was crystal clear that we want to improve and we want to build and we want to be better than last year.

“Hopefully we will finish in the top 10 – that was the target from day one and that will not change.

“That will not change with the unbeaten run and it will not change if we have one or two disappointing results.

“We are consistent in what we want and what we are aiming for. I think we are on track to achieve that.”

Ahead of Tuesday night’s visit of Ipswich Town, he added: “I think it’s important that we keep that momentum going. It’s very hard to get that momentum.

“I said to the players ‘We can’t be careless to give the momentum away’.

“On Saturday we got a draw and wanted the win – everybody could see we wanted the win – but that doesn’t mean we weren’t careless.

“There were one or two crazy things that we did, but overall we’re Marching on Together.”
