Leeds United Football Club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing away of former chairman Leslie Silver.

Leslie, who was awarded an OBE after over 30 years in the paint industry, joined the United board in 1981 and played a key role in one of the club's most successful periods.

He held the position of chairman between 1983-1996, during which the club won the Second Division in 1990 before going on to become champions of England with FIrst Division title glory in 1992.

Our thoughts are with Leslie's family and friends at this difficult time.
