NORWICH: STAT PACK

NORWICH: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of the Carrow Road clash...

United make the long journey to Norfolk on Tuesday night to face recently relegated Norwich City and some old friends in Jonny Howson and Bradley Johnson.

United's last five trips to Carrow Road:

November 20th 2010 - Norwich City 1-1 Leeds United, Championship

March 27th 2010 - Norwich City 1-0 Leeds United, League One

February 3rd 2007 - Norwich City 2-1 Leeds United, Championship

August 27th 2005 - Norwich City 0-1 Leeds United, Championship

October 8th 1994 - Norwich City 2-1 Leeds United, Premiership

Five players who played for both:
Darren Huckerby  - The frontman signed for Leeds from Coventry City in August 1999 and made his debut away at Manchester United. Huckerby made 57 starts for Leeds scoring 6 goals. He joined Manchester City in December 2000, before first joining Nottingham Forest on loan then Norwich in February 2003. He made the move permanently at Christmas 2003. He became a firm favourite at Carrow Road making a total of 203 appearances and scoring 43 goals.

Andy Hughes -  The Stockport-born utility man joined Norwich from Reading in the summer of 2005 making 78 appearances scoring two goals (one against Leeds), before joining Leeds in the summer of 2007. Noted for 100 per cent effort every week he became a fans favourite during his spell at Elland Road and made 138 appearances, scoring one memorable goal away at Millwall.

Danny Mills – The versatile defender came through the youth ranks at Norwich making his debut at the start of 1996-97 season. He would go on to make 74 appearances before joining Charlton in March 1998. From London he would make the move to West Yorkshire in the summer of 1999. Mills went on to make 141 appearances for Leeds, scoring three times.

David Healy – The Northern Irishman spent two spells on loan from Preston North End at Norwich during the 2002-03 season, scoring two goals in 13 appearances. He joined Leeds in October 2004, spending two and a half seasons at Elland Road making 121 appearances and scoring 31 goals.

David Rocastle – The great late David Rocastle joined the current English champions in the summer of 1992 as a direct replacement for Gordon Strachan. However his chances were limited and made only 34 appearances in an 18 month stay. He had a brief spell on loan at Norwich from Chelsea in season 1996-97 and appeared 11 times for the Canaries.

Five stats:
Did you know that when we visited Norwich in October 1991, Howard Wilkinson handed the armband to Leeds born David Batty for the first time in his career with usual captain Gordon Strachan out injured. Batty had worn the armband at home to Wolves and at Chelsea when Strachan went off but this was the first time from the start.

For our last eight visits to Carrow Road, we have worn all white on seven of those occasions, however during our visit in November 2010, we wore all blue in our 1-1 draw.

Current Norwich midfielder Jonny Howson, scored his first goal for Leeds, away at Norwich in our 2-1 defeat in February 2007.

Our two games against Norwich in season 2009-10 mirrored each other, with the home side winning with last minute goals. At Elland Road in October 2009, Jermaine Beckford capitalised on a short clearance from goalkeeper Fraser Forster to give Leeds all three points in a 2-1 win. However in March 2010, Norwich exacted revenge as Chris Martin headed in the winner in the 89th minute.

Famous fans of the club include Stephen Fry, actor Hugh Jackman and Television presenters Jake Humphrey and Simon Thomas.
