Jamie Shackleton: A solid performance

Midfielder on Nottingham Forest win.

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton spoke to LUTV following Thursday’s pre-season win against Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder played 90 minutes against the Reds, helping the Whites record a 2-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium.

The 23-year-old was pleased Leeds were able to get the victory ahead of the Sky Bet Championship season getting under way a week on Sunday.

“Overall I thought we put in a solid performance,” said Shackleton.

“Nottingham Forest are a solid side and are at Premier League level, so to come here with mostly their fans and get a win, is what we came for.

“Playing teams of a high standard and competing and winning the games sets us up nicely.

“It gives us a lot of confidence with 10 days to go until the season starts, it puts us in a good position and we are ready.

“The manager has ideas which we have to adapt to and get used to and we are trying to use the games and training sessions we have to work on this and implement it.

“I think you can see a lot of patterns of play on the pitch and what we are trying to do and what we are working so hard on through the week is paying off.”

Shackleton also spoke about his individual game and returning to the Whites after spending last season out on loan.

“Personally I feel good, I managed to get 90 minutes which is very important going into the first game, so to get through it and feel good is a nice feeling.

“I had a year away at Millwall, but it is nice to come back, there are a lot of familiar faces and a few new ones as well.

“Everybody is getting along really well and it’s looking like a very talented group with a lot of quality, but also a good bunch of lads as well.”
