Patrick Bamford: It’s nice to hear the fans singing my name

Striker on Bristol City win.

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford spoke to Bryn Law for LUTV, following Sunday’s victory over Bristol City.

The striker notched his first goal of the season, heading home United’s second in a 3-1 win at Ashton Gate.

Bamford was delighted with the result and was pleased with both his own and the team’s display.

“It was important for us to start from where we left off prior to the last few games of last season,” said Bamford.

“We know our style now, we are a high tempo, good possession team and it was important to show we are going to be in and around it this year.

“I focused on being a lot more aggressive and even if I hadn’t have scored, I’d have been really happy with my game.

“I was trying to work for the team and provide an outlet and I think I did that.

“It is easier to play when I’ve got the players behind me that I do and overall it was a great team performance.

“If you look at the team performance from back to front I think we were solid as a unit, we defended as one and attacked as one and I think it was a good first performance.

“It’s nice to hear the fans singing my name, I’ve got a job to do and I know what I have to do, I’ve got to keep my head straight.”
