NEW INJURY BLOW

More midfield woe for United boss ahead of Carlisle trip...

Ian Westlake is Leeds United's latest injury worry ahead of the trip to Carlisle United on Saturday.

Westy suffered a broken toe during training earlier this week and could now miss the clash with the table-topping Cumbrians.

"Ian Westlake broke his toe on Monday," confirmed United boss Dennis Wise.

"That's a big disappointment for us, and for him, especially because he started his first game for a while last weekend. We'll have to see and assess the situation."

Westy, who returned to the starting line-up for last weekend's 4-2 win against Millwall, joins fellow central midfielders Radostin Kishishev, Alan Thompson, and Andrew Hughes in the treatment room, and the boss has a selection dilemma.

Kish could be another couple of weeks while Thommo is also expected to miss out on the busy week ahead.

One plus is Leon Constantine's return to training with the squad after overcoming the ankle injury which has sidelined him since July.

Shaun Derry also returned in the reserves on Wednesday and completed his first full 90 minutes of the year against Hartlepool at Elland Road.

"Shaun Derry's back, but he's well off the pace at the moment," added the boss.

"That was his first reserve game, and he knows it'll take a bit of time.

"He now needs games. He needs to go out on loan and get games and get fit that way.

"That would benefit us if he comes back fit and ready to play. That would give me competition."
