Women's Preview: Leeds take on promotion rivals Stockport

Tough test for the Whites on Sunday.

On Sunday, Leeds United Women shape up to face FA WNL Division One North title-rivalling Stockport County Women at the BD Community Stadium, a big test for Simon Wood's side.

Following a fifth consecutive win over tier-above Huddersfield Town Women the preceding weekend, the Whites will be looking to build on their ruthless early season form with another positive result.

In that clash, summer addition Izzy Dean opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before two well taken goals from Amy Woodruff and Kath Smith in the final half an hour secured bragging rights over our West Yorkshire rivals.

Last time in the league, Leeds left Euxton Villa with three points after an excellent showing in a 5-0 win over Chorley Women, Darcie Greene scoring either side of the half alongside Ellie White, Alice Hughes and Monique Watson.

So far this campaign, Wood's side have found the back of the net on 21 occasions and have only conceded twice, both coming in an FA WNL Cup Group T win over Halifax Women.

This outstanding defensive record has the Whites on a league-high goal differential of 15, seven off of Stockport's eight and three points clear in the Division One standings.

Our visitors are coming into the clash off the back of a 2-0 win in the in the league cup against Barnsley Women, Ellie Fletcher scoring both.

Action from the BD Community Stadium gets underway at 2pm.
