For the second year running, Willy Gnonto has been nominated for the Golden Boy award, which recognises the top 100 young players in Europe.

Organised by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport since 2003, the award will see 100 players under 21 whittled down over the next few months, as votes from fans and a panel of judges reduce the nominees down to a shortlist of 20. A winner is then selected and presented with the award at the next Ballon D'Or ceremony.

Gnonto was nominated for the 2022 award and made his way through to the final 20, battling it out with eventual winner Gavi (Barcelona) and runners-up, Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and Pedri (Barcelona).

A deadline day signing in September, Gnonto played 28 games for Leeds last season, 24 of which came in the Premier League. The 19 year old racked up four goals for the Whites, including a stunning strike against Cardiff in the FA Cup.

Currenly away on international duty with Italy, he faces tough competition for 2023, with Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala, Bellingham and Gavi leading the Golden Boy Index.
