Will Firth recently signed a first professional contract with Leeds United, extending his stay with the Whites until 2027.
The versatile defender has penned a one-year deal after a successful campaign captaining the Under-18s and featuring 15 times for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s.
“It is a dream come true,” the 18-year-old said. “It is the first step in my professional career so I am excited. I have been here a long time so I am excited to get going.
“My first trial here was when I was seven. It has been a long 11 years, all working towards this goal and then to progress on. The end goal is obviously to play for this great club and build a career in the game.”
Celebrating those who supported his progress, Firth added: “My dad has always been a part of my journey. When I first started, I didn’t like the travel but when I got there, I just went on and enjoyed the football. It changed my mood entirely.
“Now, I like to lead by example. I can be loud when I want. I like to focus on my own game but as long as I lead by example, I like to carry the team with me in that aspect.
“I love a big tackle. I always try an assert myself in my first duel and my first action has got to be really good because then my confidence just builds from there. I won’t stop working hard. I will work hard as long as I can.”
