Mark Jackson’s Under 23s side face Reading FC Under 23s at Thorp Arch on Monday afternoon (1pm).
It seems a long time since the Whites lost to the Royals, a 3-2 defeat away from home in October. Since then, both teams have continued their fine form and will be battling it out until the end of the season to finish at the top of the table.
Leeds are currently on a seven-match winning run which dates back to November - most recently scoring four goals in an impressive victory away at Middlesbrough. Joe Gelhardt netted twice in the match, taking him level on goals with Sam Greendwood, who both now have seven.
Visiting side Reading have also been racking up the victories, showing their attacking intent by putting five past West Bromwich Albion last time out. They had four different goalscorers on the day, with top-scorer Jayden Onen netting the opener.
The Royals have two games in hand over the Whites, and a victory for them would close the 12-point gap to nine, whilst also allowing for their two games to potentially reduce the gap further.
The goal for Jackson’s side is to extend that gap to 15 points over Reading, with a victory. After today’s match, there are just eight games left in the campaign, but six out of those remaining fixtures are away from Thorp Arch for Leeds.
