Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action on Sunday afternoon as they welcome AFC Bournemouth Under-21s to the LNER Community Stadium.
The Whites will be keen to get back to winning ways after falling to defeat at Hartlepool United in the National League Cup during the week.
Despite a positive performance in County Durham, including a first goal for the side for North Macedonia youth international Ditmir Hodja, Scott Gardner’s team were unable to round off their campaign in the competition with a victory.
Prior to that one, Leeds hosted Stoke City U21s in the Premier League Cup last weekend, twice fighting from behind to draw 2-2 with the Potters with Carrick Njinko and Jayden Lienou on target.
Most recently in the PL2, United fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace U21s at Thorp Arch, leaving the Whites with seven points from the opening five encounters.
Sunday’s visitors have won three of their six fixtures to date, currently sitting ninth in the early season standings in their first PL2 campaign. The Cherries did however fall to defeat last time out, conceding in stoppage time as they lost 4-3 against Brentford.
Despite it being Bournemouth’s first term at this level, the teams did meet three seasons ago in the Premier League Cup. A Sonny Perkins brace and Luca Thomas strike fired Gardner’s side to victory on the south coast.
Action from York gets underway at 12pm.
