Leeds United will pay its respects to those who have served our country on Saturday afternoon as we take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, with a special tribute and moment of silence held prior to kick-off.
Our dedicated Remembrance fixture, which is always the closest home game to Remembrance Day, will feature a number of activities as we commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women and their families, past and present.
Ahead of kick-off both captains will carry a wreath onto the pitch while leading their teams out, before laying them at the side of the dugouts, where they will remain for the rest of the game.
Players will then take their place around the centre-circle before a moment of silence is observed during a performance of the Last Post at the side of the pitch. We will have a bugler, a number of Standard Bearers and military personnel pitchside during this tribute.
Present at Elland Road for the match will be various veterans and service people, representing the Royal British Legion, HMS Audacious Royal Navy and The Royal Yorkshire Regiment - who are celebrating their 20th anniversary, marking two decades of distinguished service alongside 11 years of proud dedication to the annual poppy appeal collection at Elland Road.
Volunteers will be hosting a Poppy collection around the stadium ahead of the game to help raise much-needed funds to support our Armed Forces, so if you are able to donate it will be greatly appreciated.
Player shirts will also be emblazoned with the poppy, as they were at Bournemouth, and these shirts will be made available for auction following the game – with all proceeds going to local and national military charities.
A massive thank you to all of those who will be in attendance to help mark Remembrance Day at Elland Road, along with all of the servicemen and women who have fought for our country.
We will remember them.
