Leeds United Under-21s begin their Premier League 2 season on Sunday afternoon as they welcome West Bromwich Albion Under-21s to Thorp Arch.
Scott Gardner’s side have already got their Premier League Cup and National League Cup group stages underway, starting with a goalless draw with Stoke City U21s.
Then, a very youthful Whites side earned valuable experience against senior opposition against Boreham Wood during the week but came away empty handed against the competition’s reigning champions.
After falling behind, the Whites rallied to get on the scoresheet twice in the second half, reducing the deficit through Sam Chambers and Josh McDonald.
Last campaign in the PL2, United finished 25th in the final congested standings, one position above Sunday’s visitors by virtue of goal difference.
The two teams met once in the previous term with goals from Lewis Pirie and Devon Brockie helping the Whites to a 2-2 draw in the West Midlands.
The tie may give fans a chance to see new Academy striker Ditmir Hodja in action for Gardner’s side, after the 18-year-old Macedonian forward joined the club during the week!
Action from Thorp Arch gets underway at 1pm.
Welcome Ditmir!
