Leeds United’s latest Academy recruit Ditmir Hodja spoke of his delight after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with the club.
Prior to recently turning 18, the 6ft 4’ striker netted six times in the senior game for FK Rabotnicki last term in his native North Macedonia, where he also featured in a UEFA Conference League Qualifying tie.
“It feels amazing,” the centre-forward exclusively told leedsunited.com as he makes the switch to West Yorkshire, after initially impressing on trial.
“I am very proud to be a Leeds United player. I know Leeds is a massive club with amazing fans and big ambitions.
“I am hardworking, energetic and always give 100 per cent for the team. Training has been very good. The intensity is high and I am enjoying it. I want to help the team succeed and have a great season.”
Should Hodja go on to feature for the Whites’ senior side, he would become the second Macedonian to represent United, following in the footsteps of former crowd favourite Ezgjan Alioski.
Ditmir is a big fan of the former Leeds winger and wants to emulate Gjanni’s success, both at club level and on the international front.
“Yes, I liked Alioski!” he added. “He was a very passionate and hardworking player. Playing for my country makes me very proud. Representing North Macedonia is a huge honour for me.”
