Leeds United Under-21s continue their Premier League Cup campaign with a trip to the capital to face Charlton Athletic Under-21s on Friday evening.

Scott Gardner’s side were held to a goalless draw in the Potteries by Stoke City in the Group I opener, in the first match of the new season. From there, the Whites gained valuable experience in the National League Cup with a trip to Boreham Wood.

The Premier League 2 term got underway with an enthralling 4-3 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Thorp Arch, with Carrick Njinko netting a hattrick for United against the Baggies.

The in-form forward was again on target against Liverpool last time out but the hosts took the spoils in a tense affair on Merseyside.

Friday’s hosts picked up three points from their first Premier League Cup outing, beating Stockport County 2-1 thanks to goals from Ellis McMillan and Ethan Brown.

United’s last trip to Charlton came in the same competition two years ago. Luca Thomas opened the scoring for the Whites at The Valley before the South London outfit levelled shortly afterwards.

Action from Princes Park gets underway at 7pm.
