Leeds United Under-21s will return to Premier League 2 Division 2 action on Friday evening, when they taking on Nottingham Forest Under-21s away from home (7pm, Meadow Lane).
The Whites head to the East Midlands sitting top of the division, with upcoming opponents Forest occupying a play-off space, currently in 4th.
Neither team have played a league match since early November - due to the break for the World Cup - but in their last games, both sides put in solid displays to earn three points.
Forest thumped West Bromwich Albion away from home, whilst Leeds scored four at home to overcome Newcastle in a match that saw Max Dean score a hat-trick.
When the two teams met at Thorp Arch earlier in the season, Leeds came from behind to run out comfortable 5-1 winners against the Reds.
With the league pretty much at the half-way point of the campaign, Michael Skubala’s side have been strong in their opening nine matches. They’ve only dropped two points so far, with eight wins and one draw.
Friday’s hosts have been doing well over recent matches, themselves. A return upturn in form has seen them shoot up the table, with four wins and one draw in their last five league games.
Young forward Mateo Joseph is top of the scoring charts for Leeds. He has 11 goals up to now, which puts him joint top in the league standings for finding the net. He’s backed up well by fellow attacker Sonny Perkins, as he has scored seven up to now.
Forest’s goals have been spread around the team so far. Lewis Salmon currently has the most with three, but a number of his teammates have also registered meaning Leeds will need to keep an eye out across the pitch.
