Team news: Daniel Farke's XI against Cardiff City

Starting XI announced at Elland Road.


Daniel Farke takes charge of his first competitive match with Leeds United this afternoon, as we face Cardiff City in our first game of the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season at Elland Road.

The new manager has chosen an attacking starting line-up following back-to-back wins in our last two pre-season friendly matches.

Illan Meslier starts in net today and he is joined by captain Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling, Pascal Struijk and Leo Hjelde in defence.

Youngster Archie Gray is in midfield alongside Ethan Ampadu, whilst our attack includes, Luis Sinisterra, Dan James, Crysencio Summerville, and Willy Gnonto.

Our substitutes bench this afternoon features new signings Karl Darlow and Sam Byram, along with Charlie Cresswell, Jamie Shackleton, Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins, Lewis Bate, Ian Poveda and Joe Gelhardt.
