The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Sunderland on Monday have been announced, with Craig Pawson set to take charge at Elland Road.

The tie will mark the 22nd encounter of a busy season to date for the Select Group official, who has taken charge of matches in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Europa League, as well as a Nations League international clash.

No stranger to the big occasion, the South Yorkshire-based referee has overseen a number of high-profile matches in his career, including the Emirates FA Cup Final of 2022, which saw Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties at Wembley.

The Whites had a mixed record in matches Pawson has been involved in, winning four times and drawing on three occasions in 12 games. Last season, the 45-year-old officiated United’s 3-1 home triumph over Leicester City.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have found hard to come by in their 15 fixtures involving the referee, losing 10. Most recently, the Black Cats did however edge past Stoke City 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

2024/25 stats:

Games (all competitions): 21

Yellow cards issued: 85

Red cards issued: 3

Other match officials selected:

Assistant referees: Simon Bennett & Daniel Robathan

Fourth official: Tom Nield
