Stuart Dallas has spoken with LUTV, previewing the trip to face Chelsea this weekend.
Looking back to last weekend, Dallas was pleased with how well the team played against Everton in the one-nil victory at Goodison Park.
He was also happy to be part of a defence that has kept another top side from scoring against them.
“Obviously it was a good win,” Dallas said.
“To go to a place like Everton and put in a performance like we did isn’t an easy thing to do.
“To win the game as well is great, I thought we were on it right from the first whistle, we missed quite a few chances.
“Thankfully in the second half we were able to get that goal, but again at the other end, Illan Meslier has pulled off a couple of great saves to keep the score at nil-nil and even at one-nil up.
“We were delighted to go there and win the game, that was our objective and another clean sheet which is a bonus as well.”
In matches that are closely fought, the Northern Ireland international knows all too well about the fine margins within the game and the importance of a clean sheet.
“I think it’s massive,” he explained.
“We gave ourselves a platform to build on after the Arsenal game with the clean sheet. We want to keep improving every week, keep building and of course it is a game of fine margins.
“You have to take your chances when they come your way and limit the chances of the opposition as well. If you get a bit of luck on the way as well it’s a good thing too!
“So we just need to keep improving, keep working hard on the training pitch and believing in what we’re doing then hopefully we can build that momentum.”
Onto Chelsea this weekend, the Whites will kick off at Stamford Bridge at 8pm on Saturday evening in a fixture that hasn’t been played for 16 years. Dallas gave his thoughts on facing the Blues.
He said: “This is why we play the game, this is what we want to do.
“We want to play on the biggest stages and we have the opportunity now to go to Stamford Bridge and play against a very, very good team in Chelsea.
“These are the games you want to play in, it’s important we go there, put on a performance and concentrate on ourselves and putting on the best display we can.
“We know that if we’re on it and do what we have trained all week to do we will be a good match for them, but we don’t underestimate them.
“We know the quality they bring and how hard it is going to be, so it’s important now that we have prepared well and take that into the game."
