Southampton: Match officials appointed

Appointments made for Saturday's fixture.

The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship away trip to Southampton on Saturday have been confirmed, with John Brooks set to take charge.

The Leicestershire based official was promoted to the Select Group 1 list of referees in 2021 after impressing in the EFL and took charge of his first Premier League match in December of that year. He is also on the FIFA internationals referees list.

Brooks last refereed Leeds in August 2022 as the Whites defeated Barnsley 3-1 at Elland Road in the Carabao Cup, in which both sides were awarded a penalty.

In total, Brooks has taken charge of Leeds on six occasions previously, with the Whites winning twice, drawing once and losing three times and has issued nine yellow cards to Leeds players.

Brooks last refereed Southampton in January 2023 against Everton in their 2-1 victory at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Like Leeds, Brooks has also taken charge six Saints fixtures, in which they have won four and lost twice.  He has issued 11 yellow cards to Southampton players and awarded them one penalty kick.

Brooks’ last match officiating was last Saturday as Brighton & Hove Albion recorded a 3-1 home win over AFC Bournemouth.
