The Leeds United Foundation are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership with Garforth Academy.

This new partnership, as one of the club’s official charity’s Secondary School Hubs, will enable students at the local school to benefit from bespoke careers education sessions that will take place at Elland Road, as well as on site at Garforth Academy.

Young pupils will also have access to careers resources featuring Leeds United players and staff through the partnership, showcasing the huge range of career opportunities that are key to running a successful football club.

The Leeds United Foundation have been working with various secondary schools since 2010, with the Garforth Academy the latest recruit, and work beginning with the outlet since the start of September. As part of the partnership the Foundation are part-funding a full-time Careers Advisor that will work at Garforth Academy and support students with their education and career goals and future employability.

This scheme of career development for local students is in line with the Leeds Inclusive Growth strategy, with a real focus on tackling inequality, improving skills and opportunities, and supporting all sections of our society into better jobs.

Mark Newstead, Vice Principle at Garforth Academy, said: “We are delighted to be working with such a high profile and successful organisation as the Leeds United Foundation and it is clear to us that they share many of the same values as Garforth Academy.

“Together we are completely aligned in striving to support young people in the local area. We put a huge emphasis on developing students who are well rounded and ready for the next stage of their life journey. This partnership is already having a massively positive impact on our students and supporting our work to produce students who leave us ready for the real world.”
