Simon Wood: A massive three points for us

Boss' post-match thoughts.

Simon Wood vs Wythenshawe

Leeds United Women were victorious against Wythenshawe as they recorded back-to-back victories to propel their FA WNL Division One North promotion hopes.

The Whites started brightly, with Drew Greene’s low cross resulting in an early lead, followed by a close-range strike in the second half to secure her brace and added another valuable three points on the board.

After the match, Leeds boss Simon Wood spoke to LUTV to share his thoughts on the game.

“A massive three points for us. We played some really good football and we probably could have come in with five goals for ourselves.

“A massive credit to the players because we have settled a little bit after that goal and the substitutes have come on and made an impact and we have found a way of winning the game in a time of the season where three points is all that matters.

"Going into the last game of the season against Stockport, we have got to start strong, but I think we are at our best when we go at teams and when we press teams and when we create chances through hard work.

“We never stop fighting and that is part of sort of what I think being a Leeds United player, whether that's for the men's, whether that's for the women's, whether it is from the junior teams coming through, that is installed as a Leeds United player that you do not stop fighting till the end.

“It is a good sign of this team, but we have done this all season so there is just immense pride in the players at the minute. But after today, we enjoy the victory, and then we reset going into next week.
