The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday have been announced, with Simon Hooper set to take charge at Hillsborough.

The Wiltshire-based official was promoted to the Select Group in 2018 and has made over 100 appearances in the Premier League, as well as featuring 212 times in the Championship across his career.

The Whites have won seven off their 19 games officiated by Hooper and drawn six, with him most recently refereeing the Whites’ 2-2 result against Newcastle United in the 2023/23 campaign.

The Owls, meanwhile, have a similar record in their fixtures overseen by the 42-year-old, winning eight and losing five. He was most recently in the middle for Wednesday’s 2-0 victory away at Huddersfield Town in 2019.

Hooper has only seen action once so far this campaign, taking charge of Everton's 3-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park last weekend, which included sending veteran full-back Ashley Young off midway inside the second half.

2024/25 stats:

Games (all competitions): 1

Yellow cards issued: 2

Red cards issued: 1

Other match officials selected:

Assistant referees: Mark Scholes & Steven Meredith

Fourth official: Sam Allison
