Shauna Legge: An all-round dominant performance

Captain's post-match thoughts.

Shauna Legge vs York

A prolific performance from Leeds United Women saw Simon Wood’s side gain an important three points as they keep applying pressure at the top of the FA WNL Division North table.

Darcie Greene put the Whites ahead after just two minutes, before an Amy Woodruff brace followed by goals from Brittany Sanderson and Sian Gibrill-Keating sealed the tie.

After the game, captain Shauna Legge said: “We are really happy with that one. I think it was an all-round dominant performance from us.

“We are a bit gutted to concede in the first half, and we addressed that half time, and as the second half showed, I think we controlled the game from then on.

“We need to be picking points up everywhere that we can now. These last few games that we have got, we need maximum points and there is no question about that.

“We have just got to keep plodding on like we have been and it is nice to get a few more goals on score sheet today.”

Speaking ahead of next week’s clash with Wythenshawe, the defender said: “Obviously, they are up and around near the top, so they have got some competition that we really need to be taking points off.

“We just need to go there, do our business, and hopefully take the three points.”
