Leeds United Under-21s produced an emphatic performance away at Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s on Saturday lunchtime, to record a big victory.

Scott Gardner’s side dominated the reigning Premier League 2 champions, showing a big reaction after losing last time out against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“We know the quality we've got,” Gardner said, giving his thoughts to leedsunited.com after the full time whistle.

“We know the group we've got and we're quiet in the way we go about things, but we know we've got an immense amount of quality.

“We’re really pleased with where we are at this point. We had a little blip on Monday night [at Wolves], but that's what good teams do, is bounce back.

“We spoke after the Wolves game and there's some isolated moments where you lose the game, but things we've been doing consistently and it was getting back to good habits.

“I thought we showed that in abundance today and I thought we were relatively controlled throughout, never looked flustered to be honest."

Luca Thomas opened scoring in the first minute, before the striker then doubled the lead himself, prior to Jeremiah Mullen adding the third. A clean sheet then rounded off the impressive display in North London.

Gardner explained: “I think what we talk about is a structure.

“It’s the defenders that get the credit and the keeper get the credit on clean sheets from time to time, but it’s everybody.

"So it's the little bits and pieces that we do in the front line, off the ball and the players that support.

"So, you know, you get wins and you get clean sheets, it's a collective. I think, like I said, the structure of what we try and do on and off the ball was really evident today.

“We saw all sides of the game for Luca today. He's got two really good goals, but also his hold-up play and his general play off the ball as well, I thought was excellent.

“Also, we've been relatively dominant but we haven't scored from a set play yet until this point, so we’re really pleased for Jez as well.”
