Leeds United full-back Sam Byram spoke exclusively to LUTV ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Birmingham City.

The Whites head to St Andrew’s looking to make it three games unbeaten in all competitions, following the draw with Cardiff City and win against Shrewsbury Town.

Byram who completed his return to Elland Road, just prior to the first game of the campaign, revealed what it is like to be back at the club.

“A lot has changed around the place, but there are a lot of familiar faces and a couple of the lads still here as well,” said Byram.

“I’ve settled really quickly, it’s really good to be back and it’s nice to get a warm welcome.

“It’s a young squad, I’m turning 30 this year, so I like to think I’ve got a lot of experience at Leeds and in the game, so I try to help as much as I can on and off the pitch.

“Being around the place and being back at Elland Road with a full house, is really good.”

Byram has featured from the bench at half time in the opening two games of the season, with Leeds scoring four goals and conceding none, whilst he has been on the pitch.

He reflected on the start to the campaign and what he is expecting in Saturday’s trip to the Midlands.

Byram said: “Against Shrewsbury, myself and Pascal (Struijk) came on, but the manager made a lot of tactical changes at half time and I think you could really tell the difference in the second half, with the speed of play and positional changes.

“In the Cardiff game it was frustrating to go two-nil down, in the majority of the game we had the most chances, possession, corners free-kicks and dominated.

“It was two sloppy goals, but we created a ton of chances as well, I think tweaking a few things here and there, along with playing our football, that results will come.

“Every game in the Championship is tough, Birmingham have made a lot of signings.

“It’s the same motivation for us, though, we want to go there and pick three points up and anything other than that would be disappointing.

“If you can’t win a game, then you don’t lose it, but for us, the aim is to go there and take the three points.

“Momentum brings confidence and wins bring confidence and once you get one or two wins, you can get that momentum and go on a run, but for us, it’s the old cliché of taking it one game at a time.

“We have one point on the board and we want to have made it four after this weekend.”
