Leeds United full-back Sam Byram spoke exclusively to LUTV following Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship draw with Cardiff City.

Byram was introduced at half-time for his second debut at the club, following his return earlier this week and had a big impact in helping the Whites fight-back from two goals down to earn a draw.

The 28-year-old gave his assessment of the game and revealed what it was like to step back out again at Elland Road in the famous white shirt.

“The positive is we haven’t dropped three points,” said Byram.

“We managed to get a point back and we could’ve even won it near the end.

“It’s so difficult when a team put 10 men behind the ball and you have to break them down, we had some good chances and getting the two goals back was a positive, but we are frustrated at the same time.

“It was good to be back on the pitch at Elland Road, the atmosphere obviously speaks for itself.

“It took a couple of minutes to settle in, but once I was on the pitch, I just tried to concentrate on the game and do my bit for the team, it’s a great stadium and a great fan base and I’m really pleased to be back.

“We had the majority of possession in the first half, but we were a little bit sloppy at times in possession and made mistakes, which cost us.

“That’s the nature of the Championship, you can have 80% of possession, but teams can counter and score.

“We needed to keep cool heads in the second half and tried to speed it up a little bit as I thought we were a bit slow in the first half and chances came.

“The Championship is a long season, it’s a point on the board and come the end of the season, it might be a vital one.”
