Robbie Cook: Buzzing with the result

Goalkeeper reflects on debut victory.

COOK VS SPURS U21

For goalkeeper Robbie Cook, a first Under-21s start and a clean sheet came against Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s in the Whites’ 1-0 win at the LNER Community Stadium.

With the game level going into the second half, Scott Gardner’s young side went ahead through Rhys Chadwick who latched onto a low drilled cross from Jayden Lienou to see Leeds over the line.

The hosts came away with a vital win against Spurs and after the match Cook spoke to LUTV.

“Really buzzing with the result, obviously the clean sheet,” he began. “And to be fair, I didn’t perform too bad so I was pretty happy with that! The boys really put a good shift out there. It was really good.”

“I am very happy with that debut. I have been working pretty hard to get an opportunity and it has taken a long time, but it has worked out so hopefully just keep going on from that.

“I have really pushed myself day in, day out from the start, especially in the first season where I was injured the whole time. I just kept working and then obviously it has worked out.”

Looking ahead to Friday’s fixture against Southampton, the Australian added: “I think we just need to do the same things to be fair. Another clean sheet would be good and a good result away from home.”
