Rick Passmoor’s side cruised to the top of the league after a dominant performance in a 5-0 victory at the So-Trak Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The home side started the game strongly when Kathryn Smith produced a superb goal from 25-yards out, it then got better for Leeds when Amy Woodruff tapped the ball home.

In the second half the home side came out with the same intensity and added three more through Woodruff again, Macy Ellis and Abbie Brown to ease the Whites to an excellent victory.

When the match began, it was a fast start from the home side and the first chance of the game came in the 2nd minute when Ellis drove down the right-hand side and whipped a dangerous ball in that Emma Bradley was able to palm away.

Smith made the early pressure from Leeds count when she opened the scoring in the 6th minute. She won the ball back well and smashed a 25-yard strike that left Bradley with little chance in the Chorley net.

Leeds had another chance shortly after when Smith played a smart ball over the top to Bartrup who was able to put a low cross in and Amy Woodruff was on the end of the cross but her effort only found the keepers hand.

The chances for the Whites kept coming when Laura Bartup played a lofted ball towards the back post, and Woodruff leapt the highest but her header went narrowly wide. Chorley then came close to pulling it level when Jess Gillen turned her defender on the edge of the box and hit her effort goalward but it rattled of the crossbar.

In the 35th   minute, Woodruff deservedly doubled the lead! Smith had a shot from a tight angle that was saved but the rebound fell straight to Woodruff, who tapped it home into an empty net.

This was to be the last action of the first half and after an impressive first half display the Whites, who went into the break with a deserved lead.

HALF TIME: Leeds United Women 2-0 Chorley Women

An early chance for Leeds at the start of the second half came when Amy woodruff was on the end of a long ball and she weaved past the defender, but her right footed strike went over the bar.

Amy Woodruff did get her second of the game and Leeds United’s third in the 56th minute in superb style. It came from a corner kick, the ball was bouncing around inside the six yard box and the winger produced a back heel of the highest quality that found the back of the net.

Leeds added a fourth, this time through Ellis! It came after Sarah Danby played a through ball to the winger and she was one on one with the opposition keeper, meaning she was able to neatly chip her finish into the back of the net.

It was only getting better for Rick Passmoor’s side when Brown added a fifth with 15 minutes to go! Woodruff was played through one on one but her effort was saved by Bradley, the rebound fell nicely to Brown who poked her effort into an empty net.

This was to be the last of the action as the referee blew for full time. The victory means the Whites go to the top of the league ahead of their clash with York City Ladies.
