Leeds United Women comfortably defeated Doncaster Rovers Belles 4-0 this evening, with first half goals coming from Drew Greene and Sian Gibrill-Keating, and Ellie White and Emily Cassidy getting on the scoresheet after the inverval.
Simon Wood made two changes to the side that won on Sunday, with Gibrill-Keating making the Starting XI after her stellar performance at the weekend, alongside a returning Cassidy.
Leeds almost got off to a flying start, with White picking up a loose ball and threading through Chloe Dixon, but Scarlette Slater-Rowley was quick off her line to gather before the winger could prod in.
However, just five minutes later the Whites did find the breakthrough, as Dixon collected the ball just outside the box before firing at goal, stinging the ‘keeper’s gloves who parried as far as Drew Greene to tap home!
More joy down the right flank ensued, as Drew Greene played Alayna Millard in-behind the backline and into the box, where she struck and forced a strong hand from Slater-Rowley.
Kath Smith then sent a brilliant through-ball to the feet of Millard, who lofted the ball into the box to an arriving White, but the former-Belle’s strike cleared the crossbar.
It was Gibrill-Keating who eventually found the second, as she capped off a lovely move, tapping home Alayna Millard's cross after the fullback was found by Alice Hughes' crossfield pass!
The final chance of the half fell to the Whites again, as Smith took aim from 30 yard, narrowly clearing the upright before Danielle Whitworth blew the whistle for half time.
HALF TIME: Leeds United Women 2-0 Doncaster Rovers Belles
The Whites made another quick start as the second half got underway, as captain Shauna Legge lofted a ball over the top to Alice Hughes, but the latter’s half-volley was just wide.
A few minutes later, the same passage of play ensued, this time with Hughes’ playing a one-two with Gibrill-Keating before curling towards goal, but her strike was well-held by Slater-Rowley.
After this pressure, White was the one to find the third for Leeds, as she connected well with Drew Greene’s lay-off just inside the area in the 67th minute, finding the bottom corner past a newly introduced Ellie Sharp in goal.
Cassidy then got in on the action and made it four, as she diverted the ball into the back of the net from close range, following White’s in-swinging freekick from the edge of the box!
Between the fourth goal and final whistle there were a handful of half-chances, which amounted to nothing as Whitworth blew for full time.
The Whites are back in action on Sunday, managing another quick turnaround as they head up to the North East to face Durham Cestria, kickoff 2pm.
