Leeds United Women produced a superb attacking display at home to Farsley on Thursday night, showing a lethal touch in front of goal as they edge ever closer to next weekend’s big kick-off.

Leeds created the first chance in this West Yorkshire derby after 3 minutes as captain for the night Rebecca Hunt found Trialist B who headed at the keeper.

Four minutes later Kirstie Hunt shot just over from 20 yards, before namesake Rebecca gave Leeds the lead after going on an individual run before chipping the keeper seconds later.

The hosts almost extended the lead after 18 minutes when Holly Orr’s cross was spilled but Trialist B couldn’t force the ball home from close range.

It was two a minute later following a flowing move involving Hunt and Orr who found Trialist B, who this time found the net from close range.

Leeds kept pressing and Hunt forced a brilliant one handed save from the visiting keeper. The hosts did make it three from the resulting corner as Bridie Hannon poked in from close range.

Leeds made it four after 28 minutes as Trialist B latched onto a through ball and after having her shot initially saved, she was first to the rebound to fire into an empty net.

Leeds got their fifth when Cath Hamill headed in a Kirstie Hunt corner after 33 minutes. Five minutes later Orr fired just wide before Trialist A went on a mazy run beating player after player before shooting at the keeper.

Trialist B was then denied her hat trick three minutes before the break as her header was clawed out.

It was more of the same at the start of the second period as Kathryn Smith tapped home number six after a brilliant cross from Abbie Brown.

Six became seven after 53 minutes when Sarah Danby smashed in from 25 yards, before a minute later Josie Hewson made it eight from the edge of area and Trialist B made it nine after 56.

Double figures arrived two minutes later when Smith scored her second from 25 yards out. Leeds missed the chance to make it 11 on 63 minutes when Abbie Brown was felled in the area, but Sarah Danby had her penalty well saved by Leigh Bamford.

It was 11 after 65 minutes as Trialist A tapped in and the same player made it a full dozen as she headed in after Brown saw her curling shot clawed out.

Three minutes from time Danby slotted in after a brilliant through ball from Smith as Leeds continued their build up to the new campaign in fine style.
