Leeds United travelled away from home on Saturday lunchtime, taking on Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship, picking up another valuable point and clean sheet on the road.

Prior to kick-off, both teams came together in the centre circle to pay their respects for Remembrance Day, as well giving their support to Robins head coach Liam Manning, after the devastating passing of his son in recent weeks.

When we got underway in the sunshine at Ashton Gate, it was a relatively slow start to the match. Shots on goal did start to arrive at either end, but the ‘keepers weren’t tested.

First to go close for Leeds was Joe Rothwell. He had an acrobatic effort from the edge of the box go wide, whilst Luke McNally had a similar opening for the hosts, which also went narrowly off target.

Pushing forward to the edge of the area again, Yu Hirakawa went closest to opening the scoring inside the first 20 minutes, seeing his effort take a big deflection, going just past the post.

Just short of 10 minutes before the interval, the Whites went close again. Willy Gnonto played the ball wide for Sam Byram to cross into the box, he found Jayden Bogle at the back post but rfrom a tight angle the full-back could only find the side netting.

The Robins, who were down to 10 players when the previously mentioned chance happened, were forced to make a change. Ross McCrorie had picked up a knock and was replaced by Kal Naismith.

Farke’s side had a good spell and were creating chances. Dan James and Brenden Aaronson burst forward and when the USA international pulled the ball back, there were strong claims for a penalty due to handball.

Nothing was given and from the resulting corner, Gnonto found space and curled his effort towards the top corner, only to see it tipped wide. From the next one, Joe Rodon connected well, forcing Max O’Leary to make another good stop.

Clear-cut chances had been hard to come by in the first half, but not through a lack of trying, as the whistle blew to send the teams into their respective dressing rooms on level terms.

HALF TIME: Bristol City 0-0 Leeds United

Back out for the second 45 minutes, no further changes had been made to either side and we were back underway and starting how they had finished the first, Farke’s side were first to create chances.

Bogle progressed well down the right and played James in behind, he pulled the ball back and found Gnonto, but the Italian’s shot was cleared off the line by Zak Vyner. Moments later Leeds went close again, as Aaronson shot from edge, finding the side netting.

Another good chance followed from a set-play just after the hour mark. Ao Tanaka had struck powerfully at goal only to see it deflected wide once more and from Rothwell’s corner, Byram connected well, but his header was over the bar.

In the 70th minute, the Boss turned to his bench and made a double change. Manor Solomon and Mateo Joseph came on, replacing James and Joel Piroe. Instantly, Joseph was into the action, connected with Byram’s cross but he flicked his header over the bar.

O’Leary was then tested again between the posts for City, with 15 minutes to play. Aaronson created some space and shot well on goal with his right-foot, the ‘keeper spilled it, but cleared at the second attempt.

In a match where both teams had battled hard and went in search of goal, nothing was forthcoming, meaning a point apiece and another clean sheet was confirmed with the full-time whistle.
