Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United

Whites travel to Molineux.

Leeds United return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home.

Daniel Farke’s side will be keen to bounce back from a cruel defeat in the dying moments at Fulham last time out, conceding deep into injury time.

Prior to that before the international break, the Whites were held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United at Elland Road, leaving Leeds with a tally of four points from as many matches.

Wolves have endured a difficult start to the new campaign and remain rooted to the foot of the table after losing their opening four fixtures.

Last weekend, Vitor Pereira’s team were edged out by Newcastle on the road after a first half goal from Magpies forward Nick Woltemade.

Molineux has been a happy hunting ground for United in recent years, notably winning the previous two encounters in the West Midlands in memorable fashion.

In 2022, Leeds fought back from two goals down to level the tie before Luke Ayling dramatically snatched all three points late on to send the travelling fans into raptures.

Then, in the following campaign, Ayling was again on the scoresheet in a 4-2 success which also included two red cards for the hosts!

Action from Molineux gets underway at 3pm.

The view from inside the camp:

Ahead of the match, in an exclusive interview with Premier League Productions, Ilia Gruev said: “We know the away game against Wolverhampton is going to be a tough one.

“They will try to keep the three points at home. We, of course, want to win there because we want to win or try to win every game in the Premier League because I think we have the quality also to do this.

“Of course, you need to have a good day and you need a little bit of luck sometimes in the game, which is normal. But I have the feeling that we have a good chance to win the three points.”
