Leeds United will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to four matches as they travel north to face Sunderland in Friday evening’s Sky Bet Championship fixture.
After defeat against Burnley, the Whites roared back to winning ways with a professional display in South Wales to run out 2-0 winners against Cardiff City, before emphatically beating Coventry City 3-0 at Elland Road last weekend.
Italian international Willy Gnonto got the ball rolling for Daniel Farke’s side as his stunning early strike against the Sky Blues rifled into the top corner, with a first goal in white for Jayden Bogle extending the lead. Joel Piroe’s close range finish then added gloss to the scoreline late on.
During the week, a return to the manager’s former employers saw Leeds earn a well-deserved point at Carrow Road, as Largie Ramazani grabbed an equaliser following Josh Sargent’s first-half penalty.
Those results leave Leeds fifth in the standings, three points adrift of early pace setters Sunderland.
The Black Cats have won six of their opening eight matches under new boss Regis Le Bris, including a 2-0 triumph over Derby County last time out.
Action from the Stadium of Light gets underway at 8pm.
