Preview: Middlesbrough v Leeds United

Riverside Stadium 1

Leeds United face Middlesbrough away from home on Tuesday evening, as we enter the final six matches of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Both teams had tough away fixtures at the weekend and will now come into this one searching for three points in their respective promotion battles.

Michael Carrick’s side kicked off the weekend action with a Friday night win at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers. Two goals inside the opening 10 minutes were enough to secure the points, moving them upto fifth in the standings.

Daniel Farke’s side were in the early kick-off slot on Saturday, facing Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. After going a goal down to the hosts Dan James produced a moment of quality to quickly hit back, but despite their best efforts from then on, the match ended in a draw.

Tuesday’s clash will be a third occasion the pair have met already this season, with the record standing at one win apiece. Boro were victorious at Elland Road in the Carabao Cup, before the league meeting saw the Whites come out on top on home turf.

Heading into the final stages of the 2024/25 season, the points remain important to each side. A win for Leeds could see them move back to the top of the league table, depending on results elsewhere. Boro however can’t move higher with three points, but they would prove a big difference in solidifying their play-off position, moving further away from the chasing pack below.

Kick-off at the Riverside Stadium is at 8pm and further information for supporters who are, and are not attending, can be found further down the page.
