Preview: Leeds United vs Swansea City

Whites host the Swans.

Elland Road Revie Stand

Leeds United return to Sky Bet Championship duties following the international break, as they welcome Swansea City to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites took four points from the previous two matches before the pause in league action, firstly beating Millwall 2-0 on home soil.

A Jake Cooper own-goal brought the perfect start for Danie Farke’s side against the Lions, before an emphatic strike from Ao Tanaka sealed the three points late on under the lights.

From there, a trip to West London to face Queens Park Rangers followed. After a difficult start which saw United go two goals behind, Leeds fought back to draw 2-2 in the capital and earn a valuable point at Loftus Road.

Defender Junior Firpo was instrumental in halving the deficit, with fellow full-back Jayden Bogle then scrambling home an equaliser in the second half.

Those results kept the Whites at the summit of the Sky Bet Championship standings whilst Swansea City sit 16th, looking to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

Since replacing former boss Luke Williams with ex-Leeds left-back Alan Sheehan, the Swans have had an upturn in form under their caretaker head coach, before it was this week confirmed that he will stay in post until the end of the campaign.

After collecting seven points from matches against Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End and Middlesbrough, the Welsh outfit do go into the clash however on the back of successive defeats.

The two teams have already met once this campaign, with Farke’s side coming out on top in a seven-goal thriller away from home.

The Whites twice came from behind before Willy Gnonto grabbed a last-gasp winner to secure a memorable 4-3 victory at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Action from Elland Road gets underway at 3pm.

Remembering Chris & Kev:

As April approaches, it is a time of reflection for all Leeds United supporters as we remember Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, who tragically had their lives taken from them, whilst away supporting the club on 5th April 2000. This year marks 25 years since they left us.

Before Saturday’s match gets underway, we will come together with a minute of applause ahead of kick-off and there will also be a tribute on the big screen in the 25th minute of the match.

We are pleased that members of both the Loftus and Speight family will be in attendance at the match against Swansea, who will be pitch side for the minute of applause.

The captains of both Leeds United and Swansea City will lay wreaths at the side of the dugout and chairman Paraag Marathe will also lay a wreath at the East Stand plaque ahead of kick-off.
