Leeds United host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, in a 3pm kick-off at Elland Road.
It’s a first Yorkshire derby of the season for Daniel Farke’s side and they come into the match having won their last league outing, against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
A thrilling encounter in Suffolk saw the Whites come from a goal behind, to end up scoring four in the match, all of which were needed to run out eventual 4-3 winners to confirm a first three points of the new campaign.
The goals last weekend were scored by the full front four. Georginio Rutter scored his first for the Whites in spectacular style, before Willy Gnonto, a debut goal for Joel Piroe and finally Luis Sinisterra completed the scoring.
Xisco Munoz’s Sheffield Wednesday side are winless up to now and despite it still being very early in the campaign, sit bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table with four games played.
The Owls were promoted from League One last season after a dramatic win in the play-off final at Wembley, thanks for a stoppage time winner from Josh Windass.
A return to the second tier of English football has proven tricky up to now, having lose all four matches played, against Southampton, Hull City, Preston North End and most recently, Cardiff City.
The Carabao Cup provided a first win of the campaign at home to Stockport County in the first round on penalties, but during midweek, Munoz’s side were on the wrong end of a shoot-out defeat by losing at home to Mansfield, which was the same situation for Leeds away at Salford City.
The match at Elland Road gets underway at 3pm and tickets are sold out for this West against South Yorkshire derby.
