Leeds United welcome Plymouth Argyle to Elland Road on Saturday, keen to record their fourth straight home victory in the Sky Bet Championship.
Those previous three wins came against Coventry City, Sheffield United and Watford, with the hard-fought triumph over the Hornets getting off to an electric start when Largie Ramazani found the back of the net in the opening few minutes.
The whirlwind early period continued, with Brenden Aaronson then getting on the scoresheet, but a spirited second half display from the visitors ensured it was a nervy affair late on, though Daniel Farkeโs side saw out the game to pick up the three points.
From there, a trip to the West Country followed. The Whites dominated possession against Bristol City, but the Ashton Gate side defended resolutely and held Leeds to a goalless draw.
Those results leave United third in the Championship standings, 11 points clear of 21st-placed Plymouth Argyle.
The Pilgrims, under the watchful eye of head coach Wayne Rooney, have struggled for consistency in their results, winning just one of their last five outings โ a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
It was against Lancashire opposition the previous time round that Argyle recorded an impressive fight-back to earn a point.
Preston North End lead by three goals at Home Park last weekend, but a superb display after the break, including an injury time equaliser from Morgan Whittaker, ensured the spoils were shared in Devon.
The two sides met four times across last campaign: twice in the league, an FA Cup Fourth Round tie and the subsequent replay.
The Whites won three of those, including a 2-1 triumph in the same fixture at Elland Road in November 2023.
Action from Elland Road gets underway at 3pm.
