Leeds United face Cardiff City in their first match of the Sky Bet Championship season, in a 2:30pm kick-off on Sunday at Elland Road.
The Whites begin their 2023/24 campaign on home turf against the Bluebirds, live on Sky Sports in front a sold-out stadium in West Yorkshire.
It’s a battle between two newly appointed managers to get the three points in their first competitive match. Daniel Farke & Erol Bulut will be taking to their respective dugouts for the first time competitively, in charge of their new teams.
Despite being a league apart last season, Leeds and Cardiff did face each other twice over 2022/23 campaign.
The Emirates FA Cup third round draw put the two together, and after a 2-2 draw at the at the Cardiff City Stadium, a replay was needed at Elland Road - which resulted in a 5-2 win for the Whites.
Prior to that success, Leeds hadn’t beaten the Bluebirds since 2016 and the last league win at Elland Road for the home side was further back, in November 2015. You can read more about that clash in our featured ‘Memory Match’ by clicking here.
After joining over the summer, if selected in Farke’s squad for the match, Ethan Ampadu and Karl Barlow could be set to feature for Leeds United for the first time.
Also in contention is full-back Sam Byram, who has signed a deal to return to the club, after departing in 2016 having progressed through the club’s academy system.
Kick-off at Elland Road is at 2:30pm and for those not in attendance, you can find more details on how to watch the game or keep up to date with it online, further down the page.
