Leeds United return to home turf on Saturday afternoon (3pm), taking on Brighton & Hove Albion in Matchweek 27 of the Premier League season.

Both teams are looking to claim maximum points for different reasons, with plenty left to fight for in their respective campaigns.

A win for Javi Gracia’s side could see them put distance between themselves and the relegation zone, whereas Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls have their eyes set on claiming a European spot. Both teams have games in hand on their opponents surrounding them.

This fixture last season saw a dramatic late leveller from Pascal Struijk, claiming an important point for Leeds and sending Elland Road into another last-minute celebration.

Now meeting for the second time in the 2022/23 campaign, earlier in the season the pair played out a closely fought match at the AMEX Stadium, which saw the home side claim the three points with a 1-0 victory.

Brighton come into the match following a thumping 4-0 win over West Ham United in their last fixture, taking their stats up to an impressive 43 goals scored in their 23 matches played up to now.

Leeds tasted victory in their last home match, which was the first game under Gracia following his appointment as head coach. Junior Firpo scored the winner late in the second half in that one, against Southampton.

Away from home, Saturday’s visitors have travelled well this season. From 11 matches they have won five times, drawn three and lost three.

In terms of the league table this weekend, each team could move upwards with a win, depending on results elsewhere. Three points for Leeds could move them up to 15th, whilst Brighton could go as high as 6th.
