Daniel Farke’s men take on Coventry City on Saturday as the Whites return to Elland Road in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ahead of the game, we have taken a look at the players who have represented both clubs and selected a Starting XI from those who have worn both shirts.

GOALKEEPER:

Ian Bennett

After spending 12 years with Birmingham City, Bennett made the move to Coventry City on loan in 2005 where he played just five times towards the end of the 2004/05 campaign. Following his departure from his parent club, Bennett signed for Leeds United later that summer and remained at Elland Road for one season. He featured four times in net before leaving at the end of the season.

DEFENDER:

Paul Telfer

The right-back played 225 games for Coventry City in all competitions from 1995 to 2001 and scored 12 goals in the process. He then had spells with Southampton, Celtic and Bournemouth before moving to West Yorkshire to sign for Leeds in 2008. Gary McAllister signed the 37-year-old as he came out of retirement for a second time in his career. However, he made just 18 appearances before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in February 2009.

DEFENDER:

Chris Whyte

The former Arsenal defender signed for Leeds United in 1990 and went onto become a key component in LUFC’s 1990/91 First Division title winning campaign. In 1993, Whyte left the club with 147 appearances and six goals to his name. During his time with Birmingham City, had had a brief loan spell with Coventry City in 1995 where he played just once for the Sky Blues before returning to his parent club.

DEFENDER:

David Rennie

In 1986, Rennie joined Leeds United from Leicester City and went on to play 119 games and net 7 goals during his LUFC career. He left the club after three years for Bristol City then later joined Birmingham City. Coventry City came calling in 1993 where he remained for the next three years. Rennie played 82 games and netted three goals during his Sky Blues days.

MIDFIELDER:

Carlton Palmer

The former England international played 117 times and scored on six occasions between 1994 and 1997. When he departed Elland Road, he had spells with Southampton and Nottingham Forest before signing for the Sky Blues in 1999. Palmer was loaned out a couple of times during his Coventry spell and, overall, made 30 appearances and scored once for the club.

MIDFIELDER:

Gary McAllister

McAllister signed for LUFC from Leicester City in 1990 and went on to become part of the Leeds side that won the 1991/92 First Division. He featured on 295 occasions and found the back of the net on 45 occasions for the Whites.Coventry secured his signature directly from Leeds in 1996 and he stayed with the Sky Blues for the next four years. During this time, he netted 20 times and played 119 games

MIDFIELDER:

Terry Yorath

The Wales international came through the ranks at Leeds United and established himself as a first team regular in during the 1972/73 season. He was a part of the 73/74 First Division title winning season and was also the first Welshman to play in a European Cup final when Leeds reached the 1973 UEFA European Cup final. Yorath played 198 times for LUFC and scored 12 goals. Coventry signed the midfielder from Leeds in 1979 and he would stay with the club for three years, playing 99 games and scoring three goals until his move to Tottenham Hotspur in 1981. MIDFIELDER:

Gordon Strachan

Strachan had spells with Dundee, Aberdeen and Manchester United before moving to West Yorkshire in 1989. He became a Second and First Division champion with Leeds United in 1989/90 and 1991/92 respectively. He left LUFC in 1995 after making 245 appearances and scoring 45 goals for the Whites. Strachan made the move to Coventry City from Leeds which was also where he ended his playing career. Over the course of two and a half seasons, he made just 33 appearances for the Sky Blues before hanging up his boots in 1997.

FORWARD:

Darren Huckerby

The striker signed for Coventry from Newcastle back in 1996 and went on to have a successful partnership up top with Dion Dublin. Huckerby spent three years with the Sky Blues and netted 34 goals in 109 games for the club before directly signing for Leeds United in 1999. He faced strong competition for a place in the Leeds lineup alongside players such as Mark VIduka, Alan Smith and Michael Bridges. He scored six goals in 57 games in all competitions for the Whites before departing in 2000.

FORWARD:

Noel Whelan

A Leeds United youth academy graduate and 1993 FA Youth Cup winner, Whelan made his professional debut in 1993 for his boyhood club and scored eight goals in 58 appearances until he left for Coventry in 1995. The forward stayed with the Sky Blues for the next five years where he racked up 133 games and 31 goals for the club.

FORWARD:

Robbie Keane

After joining Coventry City from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1999, Keane spent one season with the Sky Blues before signing for Inter Milan in 2000. During his one season, he netted 12 goals in 34 appearances for the club. The Irishman later joined Leeds United on loan from Inter in 2001 and his deal was later made permanent. Overall, Keane netted 19 goals in 56 games for the Whites.
