Leeds United fan Lottie Woad played a key role as Team Europe reclaimed the Solheim Cup with a 15-13 victory over the United States.

Woad defeated Auston Kim in the singles on Sunday, moving Europe to 14 points and sparking jubilant celebrations as they moved to within half a point of victory.

Carlota Ciganda then defeated Jennifer Kupcho to secure the win, giving Europe their eighth victory in 20 editions of the Solheim Cup and their first since 2021.

The 22-year-old Woad, who turned professional in 2025 after a hugely successful amateur career, has quickly established herself among the leading players in women's golf.

Away from golf, Woad is a diehard Leeds United supporter, with her family connection to the club stretching back generations.

“My granddad is from Leeds, on my dad's side. So dad supported Leeds, which meant I was born into it, which can be good and it can also be trouble. For the first 16 years of my life we were not in the Premier League, on the struggle bus. But, yeah, I love them, and a diehard fan.”

Woad visited Elland Road with her family in January to watch Leeds take on Man Utd.
