Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford spoke to the media following Sunday’s victory over Sheffield United.

Bamford netted a late winner, which was his third goal in as many Premier League matches for the Whites this season.

He spoke about his header which secured Leeds all three points, the performance and had praise for goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

“The goal came off my nose, but I will take it,” said Bamford.

“To be honest I was a bit disappointed I didn’t score the header which went over in the first half, but it is important we got the three points and I was happy to score.

“Before the game I said to Jack Harrison, ‘every time you get the ball, I’m going between the middle centre back and the far one, so put the ball there’.  In the first half he did it and I didn’t score and in the second half he did it and I got the goal, so fair play to him for putting it on the money.

“It was a tough game, importantly for us we got a clean sheet after the first two games, but they made us work for it.

“The way Sheffield United play is very hard to come up against and to press like we want to press is difficult against their style of play, Chris Wilder has them really well drilled and it was a really tough game.

“I’m not surprised Illan Meslier was the man of the match, with every shot he saved, their players were like ‘who is this guy?’.

“The first time everyone saw him was against Arsenal and you saw how good he was then and he’s just growing with every game, he deserves all the plaudits, he works hard and is keeping a level head.”
