Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Sunday’s Yorkshire derby victory over Sheffield United.

The Whites were 1-0 winners at Bramall Lane, courtesy of Patrick Bamford’s header two minutes from time.

Despite Illan Meslier making a number of good saves throughout for the Whites, Bielsa felt his side were worthy of all three points.

“It was a just result,” said Bielsa.

“The first half was pretty even, we could have scored, but we could have also conceded.

“The second half was a lot better for us, I think we created a small, but just difference to deserve the victory.

“We managed to attack well, we had six or seven opportunities and our offensive animation was better than it had been.

“In the first two games we didn’t defend badly enough to concede seven goals and in this game, having not conceded is a step forward.

“In teams there are always individuals who impact the game, but it is the structure of the team which allows the players to make differences, whether it be scoring goals or in defence.

“In the case of Patrick Bamford, at the moment he is making our offensive game more concrete.

“In the case of Illan Meslier, he had some very important saves.”
