Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s victory at Luton Town.

The Whites made it three straight wins in the Sky Bet Championship and are now undefeated in six matches.

There has been deliberation on if the winning goal in the 90th minute should be Bamford’s or an own goal by Luton defender Matt Pearson and the forward gave his opinion on the matter.

He said: “I definitely touched it, I went across the front post, slid in and then I wasn’t sure what happened after until I looked up and saw the ball in the net.

“As a striker I’m going to claim it and they should side with the striker!”

Bamford also gave his view on the game overall and felt the Whites were worthy of the win at Kenilworth Road.

“It was a strange game because they sat off us really deep, so there was no space for the attacking players,” said Bamford.

“We had to be patient with the ball, move them around and try and move them out of position.

“They were quite good on the counter attack, so it was an interesting game, but I felt that we deserved to win.

“Ben White is brilliant at driving out of defence and he played a great ball through (for the first goal) and it was my job to finish it.

“I probably should have scored when I hit the post, but I think it was unlucky and it was nice to get the goal.

“There’s a cliché that when you score, you are vulnerable and they went straight up the other end and scored.

“We had to be careful then because the crowd got behind them and it was bouncing, so we had to try and be sensible and nullify the crowd and Luton and I think we managed to do that.

“It’s a compliment to us that Luton sat back so deep and I think we forced them even deeper and whilst it is difficult, we probably could have won by a bigger margin.”
