Leeds United Women return to action on Sunday, travelling to South Manchester to face newly promoted Wythenshawe, marking the two sides’ first ever meeting.
Following a 2-2 draw in the FA WNL Cup at Norton & Stockton Ancients last weekend due to a last minute equaliser for the hosts, the Whites will be looking to bounce back in the league.
Ahead of the game, Leeds midfielder Paige Williams spoke about the feeling around the camp: “We are feeling really good, we have done a lot of preparation and training and the girls are really on it.
“Obviously they are a new team to the league, so we have had to look at previous games to find out how they play but in ourselves we are really confident.
“We know how we can play, we are sticking to a routine and we are all there to support each other and bring three points home.
“It is really important,” Paige said on bouncing back following the frustrating result at Norton. “It was a draw but for us it felt like a loss.
“We have worked really hard in training over the last few weeks to focus, especially on the league now and on the weekend it’s a very important game for us to get three points from.
“We are all in that same mindset of what we want to achieve this weekend so we are focusing on that – we are leaving what has happened from the previous games in the past and we are focusing straight on for Sunday.”
Simon Wood's side have made a steady start to the season, sitting on four points after three games with a win, draw and a loss, but the players are looking to step up to another gear.
“Personally, I have been working hard and everyone else has been working extremely hard,” she added. “We have probably had the strongest squad we have ever had.”
“We have had a good start but we may not be reaching as many goals we want to achieve but then we are setting up a new system so we are working with it and learning together. We hope to continue to push for three points.”
