Olivia Smart chatted with LUTV after Leeds United Women secured three points away at Alnwick Town Ladies.

The Sunday afternoon clash was a tight affair which was settled by the defender netting in the second half, to get Dan O’Hearne’s side back to winning ways.

“Sometimes you have to win ugly don’t you,” Smart explained to LUTV.

"It’s one of those things, it’s a long way to travel, it’s three points and that’s that really!

“It’s important to bounce back after a disappointing result last week. Nobody wants to lose football games.

“Testament to Alnwick, they defended well for 90 minutes, we had our chances but we didn’t take them.

“We can take that into training this week, we have a busy few days coming up.”

With plenty of chances going the way of the Whites, there was a bit of fortune about the eventual winner, but Smart and her teammates aren’t worried about that after getting the points.

“I drilled it hard and low and sometimes they go in, sometimes they don’t,” she stated.

“Luckily for me it did, but I am not bothered who scores as long as we do.

“I’d rather everyone else scored though to be honest, I’m not that good at celebrating, I need to work on it!

“I think we lacked a bit of composure today, but we have got an important goal and an important three points.

“It’s a long way home and if we hadn’t of bagged three points it would have been even longer.”
