Leeds United Under-21s return to National League Cup action on Tuesday, as they travel along the M62 to face local side FC Halifax Town at The Shay (7pm kick-off).
Scott Gardner’s team have been impressive in the inaugural edition of the competition so far, maintaining a 100 per cent record after wins against Boston United and Gateshead away from home.
An enthralling seven-goal thriller in Lincolnshire kicked off the Whites’ campaign, where goals from Harvey Vincent and Alfie Cresswell, alongside a brace from striker Luca Thomas, saw United run out 4-3 victors over Boston.
Next up, a hard-fought performance on Tyneside ensured Leeds edged out Gateshead 2-1, thanks to well taken efforts from Rhys Chadwick and Connor Douglas.
On Premier League 2 duties over the weekend, the Whites fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of high-flying Fulham U21s, despite Josh McDonald opening the scoring inside the opening minutes in the capital.
United sit top of Group C after the opening two rounds of fixtures with a perfect record, six points clear of bottom side FC Halifax Town.
So far, Chris Millington’s side have fallen to defeats at the hands of Newcastle United U21s and Middlesbrough U21s to occupy bottom place in the standings.
The Shaymen have enjoyed a brighter start to their National League campaign however, where the Calderdale outfit currently lay just one point adrift of the Play-Off positions, though they were beaten by Southend United at the weekend.
Action from The Shay gets underway at 7pm.
