Marcelo Bielsa has previewed the upcoming match with West Ham United at Elland Road.
The Whites and the Hammers are back in Premier League action after they both progressed to Round Four of the Carabao Cup, with victories in midweek away from home.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s match, Bielsa shared his view on the opposition as his side go in search of their first win in the league this season.
“West Ham are the same team as last season,” he explained.
“I see they have improved in their creative play, they have a very stable manner in which they play and the majority of the players are better this year than they were last year.
“Our project to play is the same as the last year. I don’t see that the opponents have any different antidotes to what they used last season.
“Now that we’re not able to win it means our game needs to evolve. Evolve in the sense that to make better what we want to do.”
With a number of first team regulars out injured or suspended, one player who was given an opportunity at Fulham was Charlie Cresswell, with Bielsa praising the young defender.
He said: ”The performance from the other day is not a definitive performance but it has a lot of arguments to say he took advantage of the opportunity he was given, and he deserved it.
“After the game against Fulham he’s taken a significant step forward and I have to read that message.”
